{"id":468,"date":"2010-06-17T11:58:22","date_gmt":"2010-06-17T15:58:22","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.cflimpact.com\/?p=468"},"modified":"2010-06-17T11:58:22","modified_gmt":"2010-06-17T15:58:22","slug":"excerpt-from-adrian-michigan-daily-telegram-letter-to-the-editor-june-9-2010","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.cflimpact.com\/?p=468","title":{"rendered":"Excerpt From Adrian, Michigan, Daily Telegram Letter to the Editor, June 9, 2010"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\">This Letter to the Editor of the Adrian<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> (MI)<\/span><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"> Daily Telegram was published on June 9, 2010:<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: xx-small;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">As you read this, it not only thanks the Tecumseh Public Schools for their awareness of this issue, but it also cautions merchants about the risk of having a Hazardous Waste cleanup problem should a C<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">FL be broken as well as the potential for further injury to folks who have had Acquired Brain Injury.<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Dr. Havas\u2019 research has established that the mercury contained in one CFL bulb can contaminate 190,000 litres (&gt;50,000 U.S. gallons) of water beyond the level considered safe for drinking.<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> Imagine what it would do to the food supply of a restaurant.\u00a0 Should the restaurant be evacuated so that the patrons do not get a dose of this toxic material?<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Also, since Acquired Brain Injury is associated with medical issues with CFLs, it would be reasonable to expect that returning heroes, with IED injuries, may well experience these problems, but have yet to associate the cause and effect.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">Th<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">e indiscriminate use of CFLs<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> could pose <\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">a serious liability issue for merchants who choose to use CFLs, particularly since the alternative is available in the form of LED li<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">ght<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">s<\/span><\/em><em><span style=\"font-size: small;\">, which do not have the deleterious effects.<\/span><\/em><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"><a title=\"Letter to the Editor\" href=\"http:\/\/www.cflimpact.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/Ltr-to-Editor-9-Jun-20101.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">Letter to the Editor<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: small;\"> <\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>This Letter to the Editor of the Adrian (MI) Daily Telegram was published on June 9, 2010: As you read this, it not only thanks the Tecumseh Public Schools for their awareness of this issue, but it also cautions merchants &hellip;
